MEET THE TCN SERVANT TEAM
Rev. Dr. Terry Tieman, Executive Director
Terry Tieman has served parishes in Michigan and Arkansas prior to serving as Mission Executive of the Mid-South District for 13 years. He became the Executive Director of TCN in January, 2009. He works with Congregations and Judicatories in initiating and executing the Revitalization process. His experience as a parish pastor, mission executive, congregational consultant and coach, Learning Community facilitator, and training consultants and coaches, brings a skill set and perspective which informs and directs the work of the revitalization team. Terry is also on staff as Revitalization Pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Memphis, TN. Terry lives with his wife, Becky, and is a father to three sons. Rev. Dwight Marable, Director of Research and Resources
Dwight Marable, of Missions International Research & Development, has been intimately involved with evangelism outreach in 25 countries where exponential conversion growth has occurred. He has led seminars and conferences that have equipped over 25,000 leaders in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe, Soviet Union, Canada and the USA. As the creator of Groups Ablaze and the consultant for the Revitalization Process, Dwight is drawing upon his experience and research in evangelism to enhance the outreach potential of LCMS congregations and districts throughout North America by helping them focus on outreach as their primary purpose in God’s kingdom. Dwight has written a considerable body of materials to support the Revitalization Process, and is instrumental in coaching and supporting the emerging Revitalization Network. Rev. David Born, Director of Field Services
David Born has served as a parish pastor in New York City for 30 years, where he developed considerable experience in cross-cultural ministry. The last 7 of those years, he served concurrently as the Mission Executive of the Atlantic District LCMS, recruiting and training leaders to initiate over a dozen ethnic-specific missions. David served with LCMS World Mission as the Regional Director of Missions for the Northeast 2004-2009, working with the churches of 6 districts as a catalyst for new mission starts, leadership development and congregational revitalization. In connection with the latter, he filled in as the Interim Director for Revitalization for National Missions in 2006, and ultimately became part of the development team for revitalization under Terry Tieman. As of August 1, 2009, David began work with TCN as the Director of Field Services. In that role, he is tasked with tracking results of the TCN process nationally, and assisting specific districts in a hands-on way with consultations, coaching and Learning Communities. He continues to do the bulk of this work in the field in the Northeast. David lives with his wife, Anita, near Cooperstown in central New York State. Contact: david@transformingchurchesnetwork.org
Rev. Scott Gress, Director of Coaching
Scott Gress has been a parish pastor since 1988, including the past 17 years as Senior Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Delray Beach, Florida. In December of 2003, he completed a Masters in Leadership from Palm Beach Atlantic University where he was also named the outstanding graduate of the MacArthur School of Leadership. He has been an adjunct professor of Organizational Leadership at PBAU and has been certified as a TCN Consultant. Scott began his formal coach training in 2006 through The Coaches Training Institute totaling 122 hours. In 2009, he was certified as a Transforming Church’s Network (TCN) consultant. He is a member of the International Coach Federation from which he is certified as an Associate Certified Coach. He has continued to grow as a coach through Internal Impact, with 60 hours of advanced coach training earning their Global Certificate in Leadership Coaching in March of 2013. Scott serves as the Director of Coaching for TCN and as Coach Consultant to the Florida Georgia District of the LCMS. Rev. Rick Twenhafel, Director of Rural/Smal Town (RST) Ministry
Rick Twenhafel has served parishes and ministries in Idaho, Alaska, and Kansas. He is passionate about working with congregations in rural and small town settings, igniting them to reach the lost for Jesus Christ. Living most of his life in Rural America serving with God’s people as lay member and pastor, Rick is keenly aware of the challenges, obstacles, opportunities, and joys Rural/Small Town (RST) congregations face. He is an innovative thinker and an entrepreneurial pastor who is able to see possibilities and opportunities for mission and ministry. He believes that RST congregations should be thriving where God has planted them. Rick will be responsible for developing new and creative resources, processes, and systems for helping RST congregations engage their communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Rick and his wife Chris have three daughters–Katelynn, Samantha, and Hannah–and live outside of Nortonville, Kansas. -rick@transformingchurchesnetwork.org
Shannon Massey, Administrative Assistant
Shannon is Dr. Tieman’s Administrative Asssistant. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Joe, and has four sons aged 9-20. She has served as an Assimilation Director, Media Specialist and Outreach Director for two LCMS churches. Shannon has a passion for people and always strives to let people see Jesus in and through her life, in hopes that if they do not already know Him, she can introduce them to Him.
