TCN Receives Thrivent Grant

August 14, 2012

APPLETON, WI (August 8, 2012) – Transforming Churches Network, 1160 Vickery Lane, Suite 1, Cordova, TN, received a $22,000 grant from the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. The grant will assist TCN in enlisting and supporting 500 new churches to intentionally engage their community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ over the next 5 years.

“This generous grant will make a tremendous difference in our ability to help new churches impact their community with the life-saving message of the Gospel,” said Rev. Dr. Terry Tieman, Executive Director for TCN. “The greatest beneficiaries will be the lost and those who are not yet connected to a Lutheran community of believers! These folks will receive the best gift of all—the gift of a life-saving relationship with Jesus!”

“We are delighted to assist Transforming Churches Network (TCN) through this grant, said Tim Schwan, vice president of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. “We trust that this support will strengthen TCN’s outreach/ministry to those it serves.”

The grant is part of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation’s Lutheran Grant Program to help Lutheran institutions and organizations and those they serve in achieving economic security and sustainability. In 2011, the program distributed more than $2 million through 44 separate grants.

Eligible grant applicants include: Lutheran congregations, regional divisions of the three largest church bodies, small church bodies, high schools, colleges, universities, seminaries, camps, campus ministries, social ministry organizations and other independent Lutheran organizations or institutions.

The mission of Transforming Churches Network (TCN) is to empower churches to open new doors into their community to reach lost and dying people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. TCN was developed to provide training and resources for judicatories, congregations, and pastors in order to accomplish this transformation process. TCN is a non-profit Recognized Service Organization (RSO) of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS). Currently, there are over 500 Lutheran churches in the Transforming Churches Network.
